What are school hours at St. Andrew’s?
Pre-Kindergarten: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00 am-11:30 am
Kindergarten: Daily 9:15 a.m.-- 3:45 p.m.
1st-8th Grade: Daily 9:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
Are uniforms worn at St. Andrew’s?
No. There is, however, a strictly enforced dress code. The dress code can be
found in the student handbook that is distributed each year in the fall.
Is bus transportation available to St. Andrew’s?
Yes. South Washington County School District 833 provides bus transportation to
and from school for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, in accordance
with district guidelines.
What are the age requirements for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten?
Children who enroll in our Pre-Kindergarten program must be four years old by
September 1st of the year they begin school. Children enrolling in Kindergarten
must be five years old on September 1st of the year they begin school. Parents
seeking early enrollment for their child must have the child tested for early
Kindergarten enrollment. Information regarding this testing is available from
South Washington County School District 833. The principal in consultation with
the Kindergarten teacher will make the final determination on early enrollment.
What impact does a multi-grade classroom have on academic and social
development?
A large study conducted in the mid 1990’s showed that students in multi-grade
classrooms perform equally as well as students in single grade classrooms. The
study also concluded that students in multi-grade rooms had better attitudes
towards school, self-concept and personal and social adjustment than students in
single grade classrooms (Cognitive and non-cognitive effects of multi-grade
classes: A best evidence synthesis, Simon Veenman (1995)).
